The results show that in the ten Member States covered by the study (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom), the deployment of cloud in the public sector is at a very early stage.
The Member States have taken very different approaches regarding cloud in terms of applications covered, type of infrastructure, relationships with e-government applications, or global policy. These approaches were clustered into three main emerging models (with their best practices):
- procurement and marketplace;
- resource pooling;
- standalone applications.
The pilots identified by the study are:
- business portals and commercial registers;
- transport information services;
- research and education sector
- health sector;
- cargo and logistics.
