The EU-funded integrated project AEGIS aims at helping designers and developers to embed accessibility support into every aspect of ICT. Around the development of an open accessibility framework, this large research consortium is testing this architecture in producing software bricks for making accessible the Unix desktop platforms, the web applications and mobile devices. One example of such components is a module for OpenOffice that enables users to output documents as Braille encoded files or to print them directly to a Braille embosser.
