One of the highlights of the AAL Forum (the annual event of the EU Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme) which took place in Norrkoping (Sweden), was the 3rd edition of the AAL Award . This competition recognises the most promising project in terms of innovation, human-centric approaches to development and market potential. It brought three AAL JP projects to the final “dragon’s den”. The winner of this year is IWalkActive, an innovative “rollator” (wheeled walker) that improves mobility on various surfaces in an enjoyable way, while enabling physical activities that are impossible or very difficult with traditional systems. Next to the award and as part of the event, a "hackathon" was organized in which some 20 young scientists explored how the use of digital aids can increase older people’s ability to work after 65 years old.
