ICT 2013 was an opportunity for students and young researchers to learn about ICT research opportunities and meet with researchers, entrepreneurs, strategy and policy makers.

Students and young researchers had different roles at ICT2013:

  • Student ambassadors reported about ICT2013 online. They methigh-level policy makers, Digital champions, Young advisors, top researchers, and successful entrepreneurs.

  • A dedicated students' corner had speakers for young audience, and hosted conversation meetings between conference delegates and the young participants, as well as three days of ICT project demonstrations and presentations by and for young students and innovators. Each day featured a different group of projects
    • Wednesday featured project winners from Campus Party Europe and Young Rewired State as well as several FP7 projects of interest to students and educators.
    • Thursday was dedicated to finalists from the Student ICT research project competition who had been invited to Vilnius to present their work with the best projects being judged and awarded prizes by a jury.

    • Friday showcased local Lithuanian student ICT projects.

  • In the context of ICT2013, StartUp Lithuania organised a hackathon on challenges relating to Horizon2020. Participating students and young innovators worked in the students' area and were in contact with other teams working simultaneously in other cities in Europe.

  • The Lithuanian presidency organised tours of local students to come and experience the ICT2013 event. They, with the help of Global Shapers Community, and Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs also arranged for visits to local schools to encourage ICT skills and careers, and kindly hosted a welcome event for the Student Ambassadors and ICT research project competition finalists before the conference started.
