Fergal Ward, Director of Research, joined Intune Networks LTD in 2003 and has 10 years experience in Optical Burst Switched, future network architectures. Fergal has a Masters Degree in Engineering from Dublin Institute of Technology in the field of wireless sensors and biomedical engineering. Prior to Intune Networks, Fergal worked for 3COM Technologies in Dublin and NASA in the US. Fergal’s current role includes working with technology strategy leaders, network operators and network users to roll out Intune's Distributed Switching innovation. Fergal has experience in EC, Irish, ESA and DARPA Research Programs and is responsible for all partner projects at Intune including the flagship FI-PPP Phase 2 FINESCE project in which Intune plays a leading role. Fergal also manages the Irish Government’s Exemplar Network Test-bed in Ireland. Fergal is a regular speaker at conferences on innovation, network technology and the future trends in the communications industry.
