The EU-funded RAMCIP project (Horizon 2020) has developed a new service robot. It supports elderly persons with Mild Cognitive Disorder and early Alzheimer's Disease in their daily activities at home.
The robot possesses high-level cognitive functions. This allows it to autonomously take decisions for proactive and discreet robot assistive behavior. A series of modules provides the necessary robot perception, human-robot interaction, navigation and object manipulation capabilities.
The RAMCIP robot can provide assistance and give reminders when it comes to daily activities such as cooking, eating and taking medication. It has been evaluated in two pilot sites, Lublin and Barcelona, where the robot has been tested in 12 real homes.
