Enabling Industry4.0 with Blockchain on a Digital Shopfloor

Future Internet Technologies (i.e., edge & cloud computing, IoT/CPS) offer great opportunities to industrial companies in terms of flexibility, reliability and cost-effectiveness. Unleashing this potential requires increased awareness, standards-based reference implementations, migration paths from legacy system, cybersecurity practices and more.
This networking session aims at bringing together leading edge technology providers/experts and industrial companies in order to discuss about benefits, risks and best practices for a digital shopfloor that can achieve performance, scalability and cyber-security. Special emphasis will be paid in presenting, discussing and evaluating the potential of distributed ledger technologies (blockchains) in the digital shopfloor context, including security, scalability and performance issues. The objectives of the session include:
• To introduce the vision of the digital shopfloor, based on leading edge ICT technologies such as Industrial Internet of Things, BigData and Cybersecurity.
• To present the potential of blockchain technologies in the digitization of industrial processes.
• To motivate interactions with the session participants regarding the role of various digital enablers (including blockchains) in the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0).
• To present relevant initiatives and ecosystems towards the digital shopfloor.
