New digital and automated products such as robots can disrupt many sectors of our economy. However, developing such new products based on complex cyber-physical systems requires testing and validation, the production of costly prototypes, and typically a long period before the product is ready for commercialisation.
The project INTO-CPS addresses these challenges through the use of modelling and simulation tools: instead of spending days fine-tuning control in the field, the design of the prototype can be optimised virtually without access to the physical machine itself, a test location, suitable weather conditions, etc. This enables a shorter time-to-market and improved safety, reliability and performance of complex cyber-physical systems (CPS).
The project has successfully tested its technology in important industrial applications: agricultural autonomous robots, crane and gangway production, safety-critical features in railway/metro systems, weed control in agriculture, heating/ventilation control in building automation, and mobility assistance in the automotive sector. At ICT 2018, the project participants will present these results and the Into-CPS Association, that will help companies take their products to the next level with the INTO-CPS tool.
