Bertrand Wert has worked for the Executive Agency for SMEs (EASME) since February 2015. He is working for one of the European Innovation Council - SME instrument programmes, in charge of the Business Acceleration Services where he is in charge of the business community developments and the success stories collection. He is also in charge of a portfolio of very innovative SME companies. The programme is supporting the most innovative European SMEs to commercialise their solutions and to look for investments.
From 2009 to 2015, he worked for Directorate General GROW of the European Commission, as Policy Officer for innovation policies. He has been involved in the development of the Innovation Union strategy. Meanwhile, piloting demand-driven policy interventions, he managed several public procurement networks or buyers’ groups of innovation (Pre-commercial Procurement & Public Procurement of Innovation).
From 2002 to 2009, he was a researcher in social sciences mainly under European programmes dedicated to research and innovation policies for local authorities and regions.
He has a Ph.D. in Political Science (University Paris-Dauphine, France), a master’s in Political Science -- International Relations (University du Québec à Montréal, UQAM, Canada), and a master’s in Political Science - European studies (University Libre de Bruxelles, ULB, Belgium).
