Jana Pavlic has been co-heading government and EU Relations at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) since 2017. She joined EMBL’s International Relations’ department in 2011. During this time, she has worked closely with the Baltic and CEE countries, driving their accession to EMBL, as well as with the main research institutes in these countries. She has been fostering EMBL’s participation in the Horizon 2020 Widening instruments and is a member of the HCEMM Steering Committee, which belongs to the first generation of the Teaming projects.
Jana is also heading EMBL’s relations with its Member States and the EU institutions. Prior to joining EMBL Jana worked for the EU Delegation in Montenegro, focusing on political criteria for accession to the EU. Between 2006 and 2009, she was a member of the Cabinet of the Slovenian State Secretary for EU Affairs, where she advised on Slovenian EU Presidency matters. She started her professional path with an internship in the Cabinet of the EU Commissioner for Research. Jana studied international relations at the University of Ljubljana and obtained her master’s degree from the College of Europe in Bruges.
