Colin Jones is a Professor at the University of Leeds and core scientist in the UK National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS). He heads the UK Earth system modelling project (UKESM) and coordinates the EU Horizon2020 project CRESCENDO, which addresses the development and application of European Earth system models. He has worked on the development of Global and Regional Climate models for 25 years and previously coordinated the EU FP7 project EMBRACE, developing parameterisations for European Global Climate Models. Before joining the University of Leeds, Colin was head of the Rossby Centre for Climate Research at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI). He is a former co-chair of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) CORDEX project and has served on the WCRP Working Groups for Coupled Modelling (WGCM) and Numerical Experimentation (WGNE).
