The session is organised around the commitment to join genomic databanks on an EU level for even more successful research collaborations. This commitment will contribute to the following outcomes:

1. Stronger cross-border research partnerships

2. EU-wide research collaboration on personalised medicine

3. Introduction of research results into clinical environment and practice

The session will be introduced by a speech by Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Digital Economy & Society

The panel will consist of prominent speakers such as:

Evaris​t Bartolo, Minister for Education and Employment, Malta

Adalberto Campos Fernandes, Minister of Health, Portugal

Juan Maria Vasquez Rojas, Secretary General of Science and Innovation, Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, Spain

James O’Shaughnessy, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department of Health, UK

Andrey Kovatchev, Member of the European Parliament, Bulgaria

Siim Sikkut, Government Chief Information Officer and Deputy Secretary General for Communications and State Information Systems at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Estonia

David Byrne, Former European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection, and Co-chair European Alliance for Personalised Medicine

The session will close with the signing ceremony of the declaration on "Towards access to at least 1 Million Sequenced Genomes in the European Union"
