The digital transformation needs an adequately digital skilled workforce. Investment in advanced digital skills is needed to enable the adoption of advanced digital technologies such as AI, cybersecurity, HPC/quantum computing etc. which will boost European competiveness and deliver higher levels of economic prosperity. We also need to invest in the digital skills of the labour force more generally to ensure that the digital transformation does not lead to a digital divide in the labour market and so that workers, especially the young, have good employment chances.

The workshop will tackle both these issues in two separate panels:

Panel 1: Advanced digital skills for a competitive European economy: investing in Europe's digital future

The first panel will focus on the growing need for advanced digital skills in the economy and how we can fill the growing gap: increasing the number of students, funding and providing more study opportunities, attracting more women to digital studies and careers

Panel 2: Digital skills for labour market inclusion: reskilling of the labour force and jobs for young people

The second panel will address the issue of digital skills for labour market inclusion: how to reskill workforces for a successful digital transformation of companies and how to provide young people with better employment chances
