The Selection Committee

After hitting every EU country our selection committee was hard at work to select the top 12 startups. We thank the select entrepreneurs who are dedicating endless hours to whittling down the applicants. These included:

Benjamin Rohe

Investor, Founder and CEO at Make A Startup angel fund and Partner at Redalpine Venture

Benjamin has more than 12 years of Internet and 6 years of mobile service experience. He’s a serial entrepreneur and works with various startups and corporates to build innovative businesses and companies. In 2011 he started the MAS Angel Fund accelerator program.

Michael Backes

Managing director at Liquid Labs

Michael is an entrepreneur and techie. He has gathered years of experience building platforms and as an entrepreneur and VC as part of IBM, NCompass Media, Argo Data, BayTech Venture Capital, eVenture Capital partners and now brings this to use as MD at Liquid Labs.

Michael Blakey

Development Committee at Dyslexia Action and Director at Avonmore Developments LTD

Michael is an active, early-stage investor in the UK since 2000 and has invested in some 21 business and realised 3 profitable exits to date, the latest being the sale of Commerce Decisions Ltd.

Sander Vonk

Director at Liberty Global Ventures

Sander is responsible for the EMEA region at Liberty Global Ventures. Liberty Global Ventures is a global investment fund owned by Liberty Global, the largest cable company outside of the U.S. and one of the fastest growing in the world, with market-leading operations across 13 countries. Liberty Global Ventures has unique access to investment opportunities throughout Liberty Global’s footprint and the ability to leverage operating resources within every aspect of the investment life cycle. Sander has spent the last 12 years at LGI in different business development and strategic roles.
