Hundreds of thousands of students and thousands of schools with their staff will be included in pilot projects on learning innovation funded by the Horizon 2020 programme, which are expected to provide valuable information on the drivers and challenges of education in the digital age.
Under Horizon 2020, with its € 80 billion funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020), ICT and learning is largely funded under the part Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies (LEIT). In 2014-2015 the focus is on technologies for better human learning and teaching (ICT 20 – 2015) and on advanced digital gaming/gamification technologies (ICT 21 – 2014). Also, a platform on learning and inclusion is funded by the societal challenges "Europe in a changing world - Inclusive, innovative and reflective societies".
