The European Commission and the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications (CEPT) held a public workshop with stakeholders regarding EU policy and the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19).
The purpose of this study, undertaken by Tech4i2 and Real Wireless for the European Commission, was to enable a better understanding of the use of harmonised licence-exempt frequency bands by different categories of radio equipment regulated under EU law in the range of 400 MHz – 6 GHz (SMART 2014/0012).
The main aim of the workshop was to give stakeholders an opportunity to share views and to provide input to the study team – both during the event and in writing following the event. The team will hold subsequent workshops – to present preliminary analysis on 8 July 2014 and to present its final findings on 4 November 2014.
The aim of this project is to gather information in a systemic approach to present a complete picture of Member State regulations that apply, following the Decision 626/2008/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on selection and authorisation of MSS systems and the Decision 2009/49/EC of the Commission on the selection of MSS operators.
