• AI4PublicPolicy
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

AI4PublicPolicy is a joint effort of policymakers and Cloud/AI experts to unveil AI’s potential for automated, transparent and citizen-centric development of public policies. PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

Today public authorities need to provide better services with fewer resources. Citizens require accessible, user-friendly, personalised, and integrated public services that match their needs and circumstances. At the same time, trust in the public sector deteriorates. We argue the solution rests in enhancing existing relevant EU work (on policies, models, frameworks, roadmaps etc) by adopting best research and practice (e.g. in public service co-creation) and by exploiting relevant technologies particularly mobile apps, virtual assistants (chatbots), knowledge graphs, and linked data.

    • mGov4EU
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

The “Mobile Cross-Border Government Services for Europe” (mGov4EU) project will lift cross-border services supported by the Single Digital Gateway Regulation (SDGR) and by the eIDAS Regulation to new levels by enabling them for a mobile-device use we nowadays naturally expect. This shall come with unprecedented user journeys by making extensive use of automatic attribute provision and SDGR’s once-only principle, complemented by mobile identification so that the so-far cumbersome filling of complex forms gets replaced by user-controlled and user-consented releasing of authoritative data.

    • GLASS
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

The rapid growth of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its ubiquitous presence in our everyday life has significantly affected the way government services are delivered today. This poses constant challenges to safeguard the data confidentiality and integrity of e-government services, while increasing its adoption and usage by citizens and businesses. GLASS caters for a 'European Common Services Web', bringing closer together citizens, businesses and European governments.

    • ACROSS
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

In recent years, the concept of cross-border services and data exchange has been an essential part of development in the EU where the services are provided using ICT in an interoperable environment. Since the data exchange is a long way journey, the EC has initiated the Single Digital Gateway Regulation (SDGR) as an important step to implement the digital revolution in Europe. SDGR brings various services under the same roof to set rules and guidelines on how to implement uniform public services in the member states.

    • INTERLINK
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

INTERLINK aims to overcome the barriers preventing administrations to reuse and share services with private partners (including citizens) by developing a novel collaborative governance model that merges the enthusiasm and flexibility of grassroot initiatives with the legitimacy and accountability granted by top-down e-government frameworks.

    • ETAPAS
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

Disruptive Technologies (DTs) have a great yet untapped potential to boost the developing of new and more efficient Public Services. Reasons entail resource shortage in terms of competences and infrastructures, but also resistance to and lack of trust in technology. Although a recent uptake of the topic of ethical, social and legal issues related to DTs, practical guidelines to fully assess the risks of adopting DTs in Public Administrations are still missing.

    • URBANAGE
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

Adapting urban environments to current challenges requires a multidisciplinary understanding of interrelated and complex phenomena. In the context of digital-era massive data production and enhanced analytical capacities, there is still enormous untapped potential in the use of disruptive technologies to support evidence-based decision-making processes in the field of urban planning. Moreover, the impact that such technologies may have in the current urban planning practice is yet to be assessed. Urban planning decision-making involves multiple stakeholders in complex governance settings.

    • IMPULSE
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

Public services (as all others) are reaching the Digital Single Market (DSM). Secure and respectful electronic identity (eID) management is an important enabler for trust and confidence in the DSM. Emerging technologies can disrupt eID and have strong potential for empowering existing initiatives. In particular, IMPULSE focuses on 2 of the most promising and disruptive technologies nowadays: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain, and their contributions to and impacts on eID.

    • IntelComp
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

IntelComp sets out to build an innovative Cloud Platform that will offer Artificial Intelligence based services to public administrators and policy makers across Europe for data- and evidence-driven policy design and implementation in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policy. Large STI datasets are processed on High Performance Computing (HPC) environment part of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) imitative.
