• TABULA RASA | Protecting biometric recognition from external attacks
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

Biometric recognition, which allows the automated recognition of individuals based on their behavioural and biological characteristics, is becoming increasingly present in everyday life activities. You can now have a face, voice and fingerprint identification software installed in your smartphone or tablet and use it to identify yourself and access your data and personal applications. As technology evolves, so does the risk of attacks.

    • SPaCIoS | Testing the security of Internet services
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

The SPaCIoS project delivered a set of techniques for Internet services security certification, verification and testing and integrated them in a single tool. In particular, the partners developed techniques for property-driven security testing, which makes security properties (e.g. confidentiality and authentication) testable; vulnerability-driven testing, where tests or test strategies are derived from vulnerabilities (e.g. XSS) that are likely to invalidate the security goals; model inference/extraction from the behaviour or code of the implementation.

    • CACE | A toolbox for cryptography software development
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

The encryption of data and information to protect the confidentiality of messages is a very old practice, which became essentially ICT-based. The more daily lives are governed by digital solutions for personal or professional purposes, the more the cryptographic techniques became sophisticated. The CACE project offers concrete support to cryptographic software engineers. The project developed a toolbox, made up of components addressing specific software development problems and processes, that allows non-experts to develop high-level cryptographic applications and business models.

    • EU-funded projects on Digital security
      PROJECTS & INITIATIVES

Digital Security is a multi-faceted issue involving critical economic and civilian stakes, cybercrime, online privacy and the protection of fundamental rights. Research in this area addresses security, trust and privacy coherently from all perspectives (technological, economic, legal, social), enabling us to promote innovation and economic growth in the EU, while protecting Europe's society, economy, assets and fundamental rights.
