All organisations, businesses and government bodies are encouraged to make a concrete commitment to carry out actions to reduce the digital skills gap in Europe. These commitments, or pledges, range from teacher training, reskilling jobseekers and actions targeting ICT professionals and people working in different sectors to helping people learn digital skills.

To make a pledge your organisation should first become a member of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition and endorse our Charter (.PDF).

Once you have become a member you can introduce your pledge online via the Pledge viewer. Your pledge should address one or more of the four target groups:

  • Digital skills for all – developing digital skills to enable all citizens to be active in our digital society
  • Digital skills for the labour force – developing digital skills for the digital economy, e.g. upskilling and reskilling workers, jobseekers; actions on career advice and guidance
  • Digital skills for ICT professionals – developing high level digital skills for ICT professionals in all industry sectors
  • Digital skills in education – transforming teaching and learning of digital skills in a lifelong learning perspective, including the training of teachers

Special call to attract women and girls to digital

A recent study found that the share of men working in the digital sector is 3.1 times greater than the share of women. To bridge the gender gap in technology, the European Commission invites companies and organisations to pledge actions to equip more women and girls with digital skills and enthuse them to pursue ICT studies and careers.

Receive a badge for your website

Once your pledge is approved, you will receive a badge, which you can publish on your website. Pledgers are informed about activities and invited to meetings related to the work of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition. Pledgers will be involved in the shaping of the Coalition and will be assisted by the Digital Skills and Jobs Secretariat to support the progress of their pledge.

You can see all the pledges on our pledge viewer.
