The European Commission and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETS) will host a workshop where selected industry and academic experts will discuss Smart Cities and sustainability, Energy Efficient buildings, BIM (Building Information Modelling) and BEMS (Building Energy Management Systems) interoperability with appliances, Internet of Things or smart grids.

Tommorrow's appliances will no longer be stand alone devices but instead highly intelligent, networked Smart appliances with the ability to exchange information, enable interoperability and achieve the energy efficiency requirements of the end user and service provider.

DG Connect and ETSI forsee the integration of Smart appliances as an important step for Europe at both social, economical and evironmental levels.

This event will take place on 27 - 28 May 2014 in Brussels, Begium.
