In the framework of ICT-16 Information and Networking Day a workshop on multilingual data value chains in the Digital Single Market took place in Brussels on 16 of January 2015.

The purpose of the workshop was for the community to get together and start a reflection on how language technology (LT) can contribute to creating a multilingual Digital Single Market (DSM) and creating effective multilingual data value chains.

The workshop was also intended to kick-start and provide contributions to the elaboration of the "Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda" (SRIA) which will be the community response to very concrete European challenges. Please see the presentation by the SRIA Editorial Board

Two CSAs projects resulting from the latest H2020 Call 1 ICT17 topic: CRACKER led by DFKI (Coordinator: Georg Rehm) and LT_Observatory led by Zabala (Coordinator: Blanca Rodriguez) will be in the driving seat for elaborating the SRIA.

The workshop focussed on concrete multilingual challenges of the private sector operators in the DSM, public services in the DSM, and the challenge of creating big data value / data economy (see Big Data PPP Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda).

Under each of the three lines the presentations and the discussions focussed on the challenges that need to be solved and the solutions that the LT field can provide.

The agenda of the workshop and the individual presentations are available at the bottom of the page.

The report from the workshop can be downloaded HERE.

If you want to get involved and contribute your idea to the elaboration of the SRIA please contact Blanca Rodriguez from Zabala and Georg Rehm from DFKI.

The workshop is not related any immediate funding opportunities in the EC programmes. There is currently no open H2020 call for proposals in the area of this workshop.
