The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) has now published the list of winning municipalities for the fourth WiFi4EU call.

947 municipalities from all over the EU have won a WiFi4EU voucher during the fourth call!

The fourth and last WiFi4EU call for applications took place from 3 to 4 June 2020. The Commission received over 8,600 applications from all participating countries. Following an evaluation of the applications, the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA), the Commission's executive agency in charge of implementing the WiFi4EU programme, has now published the list of winning municipalities. Each applicant will receive an individual notification of the results of the call. Once notified of the selection results, the winning municipalities will be invited to sign a Grant Agreement, which is available on the WiFi4EU Portal, to receive the voucher worth EUR 15,000.

Seeing the interest in the initiative and to ensure that all available vouchers are allocated, for this call there was no maximum number of vouchers per participating country. The European Commission removed the maximum ceiling per country in agreement with Member States via a consultation with the Connecting Europe Facility Committee. While based on a “first-come, first-served” principle, all participating countries were nevertheless guaranteed a minimum of 15 vouchers, provided they had sufficient numbers of applicants.

The demand largely exceeded the number of vouchers that were available in this call and municipalities were fast to apply, with 3000 applications received in the first 5 seconds of the call launch. Municipalities from Spain, Italy and Romania have been amongst the first applications to come, while countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece and Portugal only needed few vouchers to have almost all of their municipalities covered by WiFi4EU.

We welcome all municipalities to join the WiFi4EU Community, where they can share experiences and views with other registered municipalities, winners of previous calls and Wi-Fi installation companies. This will allow engaging with municipalities from all over Europe and staying updated with the WiFi4EU programme.
