If you are at the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam in the week of 30 November you could meet the robot developed by EU-funded project SPENCER. The robot will be able to help you find your way around the airport.

The SPENCER robot navigating among people

In an interview with AlphaGalileo and the NA Örebro newspaper coordinator Achim Lilienthal of Örebro University, Sweden explains the challenges facing the robot at an airport full of glass walls and other obstacles. The SPENCER robot will be tested at the airport next week guiding visitors. The human-robot interaction technology developed under the EU-funded project can be used in many other scenarios, such as museums or potentially even as the face and voice for autonomous trucks making the whole concept more acceptable to humans.
