The threat from cybercriminals shows no sign of abating, opening up opportunities for European companies to develop new tools to fight against threats – and win a greater share of one of the fastest growing markets in the IT sector.

In July 2016 the European Commission set up a new public-private partnership as a way to strengthen the competitiveness of the European cybersecurity sector. Additionally, small companies can find support under the EU's Horizon 2020 programme, specifically via the SME Instrument which addresses the exploitation of high-risk and high-potential innovation ideas.
