Safer Internet Day is organised by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission and  promotes safe and positive use of digital technology, especially among children and young people. Celebrated each year in February, this day gathers thousands of people who raise awareness of online safety issues and participate in events and activities right across the globe.

This year's slogan "Be the change: Unite for a better internet" emphasizes the importance of collaboration and unity. How can YOU be the change?

By championing for a better internet, the theme aims at encouraging people to "be the change" and make the most of the positive opportunities offered online, while giving them the resilience, skills, knowledge and support their need to navigate any online risks they may come across.

In 2017, many Safer Internet Centres are celebrating a full "Safer Internet Month". The activities will include press conferences, webinars, workshops, expositions, contests, and many more. Participants will engage in discussions and educational activities on important topics such as cyberbullying, "fake news", data protection and digital literacy.
