South-eastern Europe: past and present
The virtual exhibition featured old postcards from south-eastern European countries, with the aim of highlighting their rich collections, which are published on the Europeana portal. The exhibition also includes interesting facts and details about the places portrayed on the postcards, making it a good way of learning more about the past of those countries. These postcards show us a nostalgic view of south-east Europe.
Europeana is now looking for current images to show how the same places look today. So if you are on holidays in Southeastern Europe this summer, this is your opportunity to get your pictures displayed as part of an online exhibition.
This exhibition is one of the many organised by Europeana, a project originally driven by the Commission with the aim of making Europe's cultural heritage accessible online. With over 50 million digitised items, it dedicates thematic collections to art, fashion, music, history or photography.
Visit the Europeana exhibition to see exactly which places and landmarks they’re looking for in:
- Bosnia & Herzegovina
- Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
