Cloud-based services offer researchers a wealth of services but in this maze of powerful tools it is often difficult to find and select the suitables services, not even mentioning how time-consuming all this is.  The EU-funded project OCRE, the "Open Clouds for Research Environments", aims at helping researchers find their way among the myriad of cloud-based services.  €9.5 million will be made available for the European Research community.

OCRE is a consortium of the GEANT Association (coordinator), CERN, RHEA and TRUST-IT.

To address that issue OCRE will run a pan-European tender in October 2019 to establish framework agreements with cloud service providers.  The tender will include IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service, PaaS (Platform as a Service), SaaS (Software as a Service), and Earth Observation services.  Selected providers will become an integral part of the EOSC service catalogue and be connected to the GÉANT data network.

Register now for the inaugural webinar on 15 February 2019 or for the information session on 1 March 2019.  There will also be a face-to-face session with cloud suppliers and earch observation services in Utrecht (The Netherlands) on 12 March 2019.
