Europe's film and creative sector is in the spotlight at the Cannes Film Festival (13-24 May). This year, a record 25 films supported by EU's Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme have been selected for the festival, with almost half of them competing for the prestigious Palme d'Or.

€2.4 million from the MEDIA programme helped support the development or the distribution of the films (more information on MEDIA). Günther H. Oettinger, European Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, will be at Cannes to meet EU filmmakers, and discuss Europe's plans to support creators, open up creative works to new audiences and put cultural diversity at the heart of European digital age.

The 25 MEDIA-supported films represent a variety of stories, genres and artistic approaches from various European countries.
