The European Union and India intensify their cooperation on ICT standardisation in telecoms bodies and between their statistical organisations.

This three-year project (until 31 October 2019) is supporting joint initiatives in the following priority fields: 5G, Intelligent Transport Systems/Machine to Machine (M2M) communications, Network Functions Virtualisation/Software Defined Networks (NFV/SDN), and security as a cross cutting issue.

The project is expected to facilitate trade between the EU and India by increasing inter-operability and the ease of doing business for companies, thereby supporting crucial initiatives of the Government of India such as "Make in India", "Digital India" and "Smart Cities", while adding additional weight to both European and Indian ICT standardisation efforts at a global level. The project supports the EU-India Strategic Partnership and delivers on the agreement reached during the March 2016 EU-India Summit to enhance cooperation on ICT standardisation.
