Imec is a world-leading R&D and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies. Last week, it opened a European networking hub at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB).

Imec's European networking hub aims to bring together co-creation and citizens participation, Open Data and Open services, interoperability between cities. It will try to boost creativity and entrepreneurship.

The Hub, also known as “QHHQ” (Quadruple Helix Headquarters) Hub, is seeking to build on globally linked European ecosystems and facilitators to shape the urban agenda. The hub relies on a collaboration at a local level, with an outlook towards the bigger picture – multidisciplinary which embraces quadruple helix approach aiming at letting the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL),  OASC (Open and Agile Smart Cities),  CreativeRingBig Data Value Association (BDVA) and Media Wijs better collaborate on various projects and host visits for interested audience to learn more about:

  • co-creation and citizen engagement by Living Labs;
  • building bridges between creative communities to connect creativity with research, innovation and experimentation;
  • market creation and technical interoperability in and between services in cities;
  • boosting European Big Data Value research, development and innovation and to foster a positive perception of Big Data Value
