The discussion will focus on the role that Digital Innovation Hubs can play to help SMEs acquire the digital skills they need for their digital transformation.

The Working Group on Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) was launched after the High-level governance meeting of the European platform of national initiatives on digitising industry to support the implementation of the Digitising European Industry initiative.

On its fourth meeting, the working group aims to bring together Digital Innovation Hubs representatives and other interested stakeholders to discuss:

  • Experience with digital skills training for employees of SMEs
  • Learning content, catalogue of training materials and possible ways of sharing
  • The next EU budget and future investments in Digital, what is in it for the hubs?

The event will take place on 2 July in Brussels, from 9.15am to 5pm. You can register here. Webstreaming will be available and questions can be sent online via sli.do with the hashtag #DIH2018. You can also access the full list of participants.

Expression of interest to present at the event

During the day we want to give the opportunity to all Digital Innovation Hubs representatives to present what their DIHs are doing on digital skills and how to reinforce the training dimension for SMEs and their employees.

You are invited to send us expression of interest via email before 22 June if you want to make a presentation related to one of the following questions. It is sufficient to send a half a page summary of your presentation:

  • What are the training needs of the SMEs you serve? How are you addressing these needs? Are you providing training courses as a DIH, or do you have a special partner for that? What are the business models you use for these courses? What are the most popular topics?

  • Which training materials did you develop? Can these be shared with other DIHs and on which terms? Would it be feasible to extend the catalogue of DIHs or another sharing platform to collect and categorise all these materials?

  • Do you have experience or plans to make use of the Digital Opportunity Traineeship Scheme?  Do you have any experience with the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition?
