European Final of Startup Europe Awards

Startup Europe Awards Final Ceremony celebrates the best startups in Europe in presence of the President of the European Parliament. The winners of the 10 categories have been chosen from more than 20 local events and 14 national awards.

The aim of the event is to reward the 10 most outstanding startups coming from 14 national competitions that have taken place in 2016 across Europe, announcing one winner for each category in competition: Creative, Energy, Fintech, Green, Health, ICT’s, Smart Cities, Social, Tourism and Water.  In addition, the StartUp Europe Awards final will also recognise the Best Public Administration for Startups and the Best Media Partner.

Beside the honorific presence of the President of the European Parliament, Mr. Antonio Tajani, the Ceremony will gather other prestigious attendees like Mr. Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner in charge of Research, Science and Innovation, First Vice-President  of the Committee of Regions Mr. Karl-Heinz Lambert, as well as Mr. Gonçalo Lobo Xavier, Vice-President for Communication of the European Economic and Social Committee, and Mr. Michel Servoz, Director-General of DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, at the European Commission.

The ceremony will also be enlighten by the participation of HE Cecilia Yuste Rojas, ambassador of Spain, HE José Alberto Briz Gutiérrez, ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala in Belgium, HE Mauricio Lautaro Sandino Montes, ambassador of Nicaragua in Belgium, HE Dario Ernesto Chiru, ambassador of Panama in Belgium, HE Antonio Vasco Alves Machado, ambassador of Portugal and HE Artur Jan Orzechowski, ambassador of Poland.

From the Private Sector, Mr. Alberto Onetti, President of Mind the Bridge and Coordinator of Startup Europe Partnership will present the “Scale up Europe Report” and 30 startups out of the 91 participating in the contest will attend the ceremony.

The winners of the European final of Startup Europe Awards will gain huge visibility across Europe and access to a mentoring programme (from European funds like the SME Instrument -from €50.000 to €2.5 M, communication, lobbying, etc.), through the Finnova Foundation and other partners of the StartUp Europe Awards, allowing them to develop their projects and make them more viable at a European level.

Startup Europe Awards is an initiative promoted by the European Commission and supported by the President of the Committee of the Regions, several members of the European Parliament as ambassadors and it is implemented by the Finnova Foundation in collaboration with Startup Europe.
