The Mobile World Congress, an annual event taking place in Barcelona, will bring the mobile industry, stakeholders and policy shapers together. The European Commission will be represented by Vice President Andrus Ansip and Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner in charge of Digital Economy and Society.

The European Commission is an active participant in the Mobile World Congress with several high level sub-events related to 5G, eIDAS and Graphene Flagship events and Next Generation Internet.The Mobile World Congress 2018 will see the participation of the European Commission in various areas such as high level bilateral meetings and roundtables along with panel discussions and exhibition booths.

Commissioner Mariya Gabriel and Vice President Ansip will participate in high-level bilaterals with top industry leaders. VP Ansip will present his keynote speech on "Delivering 5G for all" in the "Supporting transition to 5G" panel session. Important keynotes/speeches and announcements on Digital Single Market and 5G technology for vertical industries will take place along with other demos and activities.

The Graphene Pavilion will feature different prototypes and demonstrations that will provide visitors an insight into the evolution of the graphene applications.

The new report on the eIDAS the electronic identification framework of the EU linking it to Mobile Connect will also be presented.

The Next Generation Internet initiative will launch the NGI Awards and organise a panel discussion on the future of Internet and its human-centricity.
