The European Commission mandated CEN to develop the European standard on eInvoicing
On 23 October 2017, the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) will host an event around the publication of the European standard on eInvoicing in Brussels.
The objective of this launch event is to celebrate the official publication of the standard and to provide a platform for the public and private sector to exchange views and expertise with regard to approaches for the implementation of the Directive and conformance to the standard to reap the benefits of electronic invoicing.
This event represents the launch of the next big step for eInvoicing business to government (B2G) as it kicks-off the implementation stage in EU Member States and EEA countries. It also represents an important step towards realising the potential of the Digital Single Market.
The European Commission mandated CEN to develop the European standard on eInvoicing and other standardisation deliverables to support the implementation of Directive 2014/55/EU on electronic invoicing in public procurement.
The European Commission further supports implementation of Directive 2014/55/EU with the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) eInvoicing building block. The purpose of the CEF eInvoicing building block is to promote the uptake and accelerate the use of eInvoicing respecting Directive 2014/55/EU and the European standard, amongst both public and private entities established in the EU, as well as in participating EEA countries. The benefits to both users and the wider economy of adopting eInvoicing are reduced risks, reduced costs and improved market.
