Co-organised by the European Commission and the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Digital Assembly is taking place on Sofia, Bulgaria on 25 and 26 June 2018. Journalists are invited to go through the event's main milestones, by making use of the following resources:
Before the opening of the Assembly, journalists can obtain useful information on the following main thematic topics:
- Digital in the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework;
- Free flow of non-personal data and the April 2018 Data package;
- European Electronic Communications Code;
- Promoting fairness and transparency for business users of online intermediation services.
The Plenary discussions taking place during the two days of the assembly will focus on the following key digital priorities:
- Strengthening cybersecurity;
- Digital skills;
- Artificial intelligence;
- The Internet of Things;
- Tackling disinformation.
The European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel, together with the Bulgarian Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski, will hold a Press Conference at 15:10 (GMT + 3:00). The press conference will be webstreamed in English, French and Bulgarian.
Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans
The Digital Agenda builds on the informal EU-Western Balkans summit from 17 May 2018 in Sofia, where leaders of the European Union and the Western Balkan Partners committed to boosting the digital connectivity in the region. At 14:40 (GMT + 3:00) the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans will be launched.

New 5G cross-border corridor
Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia have jointly agreed to develop experimental 5G cross-border corridors that will allow for the testing of driverless vehicles.
