The 8th Annual Concertation and Consultation Workshop on Micro-Nano-Bio Convergence Systems, MNBS 2014, took place from 21 to 22 October 2014, in Toulouse, France. In this workshop a number of the world’s greatest challenges were discussed, and it became clear that the field can make significant contributions to their resolution. In this respect the 8th workshop proved to be a milestone event. A report gathering the conclusions of the workshop is now available.

The objective of the 8th conference on Micro-Nano-Bio Systems, MNBS, was to share the progress in the field and to look at the opportunities and challenges ahead. While the focus in the earlier years was rather on technology development, it has recently shifted to innovation, business development and addressing some of society’s challenges.

A report named '“Innovation and Technology Implementation for European Competitiveness and Better Citizen’s Life'" was published following the event.

The series of MNBS events, are an excellent opportunity to:

  • diffuse and exchange information on R&D results and innovative solutions from EC-funded projects and other initiatives in Europe,
  • identify synergies and collaborations to tackle challenges covering the full value chain from R&D to exploitation,
  • meet with key representatives from industry, research, users and the EC,
  • take on an active role in defining research priorities and roadmaps for future research and in the Horizon 2020 program for research and innovation.
