This Code is intended to be used by companies and authorities alongside the EU legislation to ensure a better and more harmonized understanding by all parties concerned when it comes to labelling products. It was successfully developed under the EU co-regulation approach. As stated, the existing Regulation 767/2009/EC on the placing on the market and use of feed sets out the basic rules for the way the information about pet food must be provided. The Feed Hygiene Regulation foresees self-regulation and invites industry sectors to give practical guidance for industry, consumers and authorities on how to apply the EU rules in all EU Member States. This Code includes a glossary, practical examples and a reference list of applicable legislation.
The Code is also available in Slovenian and Spanish.
