Chair of the Governing Board of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition

    Anja Monrad

The Board of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition just presented a nine-point Action Plan, outlining the Coalition’s priorities for the coming months. It is now up to all members, pledgers and national coalitions to rise to the challenge, deliver on the identified priorities, and turn the Coalition into a genuine movement.

I am Anja, the recently-appointed Chair of the Governing Board of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition. The Board provides strategic leadership and gives high-level advice to improve the functioning and the impact of the Coalition. The 13 members of the Board represent the active Members of the Coalition and act as a link between the stakeholder groups in the Coalition: pledging membersnational coalitions, social partners and others.

We will regularly update you on the Coalition’s progress and report about inspiring actions by Coalition members.

The coalition includes more than 400 Members, 100 pledging organisations and 23 National Coalitions, and has already delivered impressive results over less than two years, offering training to millions of Europeans.

As digital technology transforms our lives and workplaces, we have to step up our joint efforts to up-skill all Europeans. The Coalition is our platform to do that.

Over the last few months, we have been working hard on an Action Plan for the Coalition. A first draft was presented during the Digital Assembly 2018 in Sofia and consulted with all Coalition members. The focus is on expanding the membership to all sectors of the economy, how to connect to the actors promoting digital skills on the ground and to make sure the future EU budget foresees financial support to develop the skills needed to make Europeans fit for the ongoing digital transformation.

The Action Plan is our "roadmap" for the coming months. It is now up to all members of the Coalition to rise to the challenge.

We have promised Commissioner Gabriel to deliver first results when we meet her again at the European Digital Skills Awards during ICT2018 in Vienna. Please check out the content of the Action Plan and what you and your organisation can do to make it happen.

The Board is very much looking forward to working with all of you. Together, we can turn the Coalition into a real movement. A movement providing digital up-skilling and re-skilling opportunities to all Europeans.
