In the area of Advanced Computing, we can group the on-going research and innovation activities around four different dimensions. This is a simplification, useful only to show the overall direction of research efforts. In fact, many projects span across several themes.
Multicore Embedded Computing
Projects working on the challenges of parallel computing based on next-generation parallel chips for embedded application, addressing the issues of (e.g.) power optimisation, time criticality, security.
Low Power Data Centres and systems of multi-core chips
Projects addressing the issue of low-power computing from a system-wide point of view, managing the complexity from a system-wide perspective.

Mixed Criticality Computing
Challenging the problem of managing very diverse non-functional requirements in environments like automotive, industry, smart cities, health.
