The average time to answer a 112 call is 9 seconds.
The Advanced Mobile Location (AML) service is available in certain parts of the country.
According to the latest E-communications household and telecom single market survey, 52% of Austrians know they can use 112 everywhere in the EU.
Users with disabilities can reach the emergency services by e-mail to gehoerlosennotruf@polizei.gv.at or through fax and SMS to 0800-133133.
The European emergency number 112 is not the only emergency number in Austria.
The national emergency numbers are:
- 122 - fire brigade,
- 128 - gas-related emergency,
- 133 - police,
- 140 - mountain rescue,
- 141 - doctors,
- 142 - telephone counselling,
- 144 - rescue/ambulance,
- 147 - emergency services for children and young people.
