Workshop 1: digital skills for jobs and learning

The EU Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs aims at meeting the requirements of the future workforce and addressing the digital skills gap. Workshop 1 will discuss ICT training and innovative teaching & learning. The morning session will look at new projects and ideas regarding ICT training, and include an update on the Grand Coalition pledges presented at the Conference of 4th & 5th March 2013, as well as new pledges.

The afternoon session will examine the challenges and highlight the drivers & opportunities of learning in the digital age; it will explore how today's learners are equipped for future jobs; how innovation in learning motivates and engages learners of all ages; how to break the boundaries of formal, non-formal and informal learning to boost the skills and knowledge capital of Europe. The event will gather innovative thinkers and actors in the field and representatives of policy-makers and industry.

Have your say and contribute to the debate by joining the online discussion!

The most active participant (in terms of meaningful comments posted) will receive an invitation to the workshop and to the Assembly!

From ICT Training into Employment. Good practices & Failures

Building on our last week discussion, we would like to this time focus on ICT training for employment. What are the good practices and novel solutions in your organisations, policies that support them, examples from EU and beyond? We have already Manus from FIT and Eva Fabry mentioned some in the last thread:

Interpersonal skills

Dear all, I agree that ICT training is important, what we do see is that ICT is just one side of the challenge. People don't fully benefit of these technical expertises due to a lack of interpersonal skills such as conflict management, cross-functional communications, presentation skills, win-win negotiations and so on.
