112 calls are answered on average within 1 second. In addition to English, the calls can be answered in Welsh and in 170 languages with the help of interpreters.

The Advanced caller Location (AML) service was launched in 2014 allowing more precise location to be sent using SMS to the PSAP. AML is available on Android phones only.
The European emergency number 112 is not the only emergency number in the UK. It is used alongside the national emergency number 999.
