112 calls are answered on average within 6 seconds. In addition to Latvian, the calls are answered in Russian and in English. The 112 operator can detect the location of the caller within 7 seconds in 98% of cases.

The European emergency number 112 is not the only emergency number in Latvia:
Disabled people can access 112 by sending an SMS. People with hearing and speech disabilities who are subscribers of fixed operators have the possibility to access 112 through a special terminal equipment. People with visual impairments can access 112 by using a Braille terminal equipment.
