<h2 class="heading-deco terciary">Academic and professional achievements are not easily verifiable.</h2>
<p class="txt">
    In the labour market, proving professional experience and qualifications to employers remains a complicated process,
    especially at the European level. Professionals applying to national or cross-border work often have to provide
    proof of professional skill or experience via physical (paper) documents, digitally signed PDFs or self-written CVs.
    HR departments can either trust the authenticity of the documents or dedicate time and effort to phone back previous
    employers for verification. Even in the best case, there is no method to authenticate if the trusted document is
    really linked to the said individual. This means current processes are time-consuming and fraud-susceptible.

<p class="reference">The opportunity</p>
<h2 class="heading-deco terciary">Web3 has the potential to revolutionise job market qualification verification.</h2>
<p class="txt">
    Web3 allows the seamless issuance, presentation, and verification of professional work credentials. This helps the
    labour force easily get proof for claims of professional work experience they hold, allowing employers to easily
    verify such claims without having to contact past employers. Additionally, Alumni departments can offer a valuable
    service to their ex-employees to help them develop a verifiable career record.

<p>
    A Web3 presentation and verification infrastructure for professional work credentials brings together three main technologies:
</p>
<ul class="arrows-list">
    <li>Digital Wallets: used by employees and employers to receive, store, and send credentials on the move.</li>
    <li>Verifiable Credentials: for formatting, presenting, and exchanging credential data in a machine-friendly way.
    </li>
    <li>Blockchain: for delivering a highly secure, resilient, and decentralised way of verifying credential information.</li>
</ul>
<p class="reference">The project</p>
<h2 class="heading-deco terciary">Building the foundations of a new digital job market infrastructure using EBSI.</h2>
<p class="txt">
    The project leverages the power of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) to build the foundations
    of the digital solution recognising companies as both issuers (alumni's services) and verifiers (HR recruitment and
    business owners) to enable cross-border recognition of professional work certificates for the labour market.
</p>
<p class="txt">
    EBSI allows the Employment project to design, build, and operate the next generation of decentralised
    services. The objective of this project is to enhance the employee and employer experience by allowing: 
</p>
<ul class="arrows-list">
    <li>Employees to claim work certificate credentials using their personal digital wallets.</li>
    <li>Employees to present work experience and skills certificates for verification and authentication by the employer.</li>
    <li>Enable secure data sharing, selective disclosure, and control over personal employee information.</li>
    <li>Remove the risk of fraudulent work experience and skills from hiring processes.</li>
</ul>

        <p>Anna works for a company in Germany. After five years at the company, she decides to quit and look for a new
            job.</p>
        <ul class="dots-list">
            <li>She makes a <span>1</span> <strong>request</strong> at her company's HR office to be issued a work certificate proving the duration
                and role she held at the company. The HR office <span>2</span> <strong>issues</strong> the work certificate credential to Anna and
                she <span>3</span> <strong>stores</strong> it in her personal digital wallet. Equipped with the work credential, she can now prove to
                future employers her professional experience without involving her previous German employer.</li>
            <li>She applies for a position at a Bank in the Netherlands by <span>4</span> <strong>presenting</strong> her work certificate during the application process.</li>
            <li>The Dutch bank is able to <span>5</span> <strong>verify</strong> the credential against the EBSI 
                ledger and, independently of the German company, determine and authenticate the suitability 
                of her experience - progressing her application to the next step of the hiring process.</li>

<h2 class="heading-deco terciary">Mobilisation of the ecosystem is key to driving adoption.</h2>
<p class="txt">Achieving this seamless job market experience demands a strategic and operational paradigm shift, mobilising a vast ecosystem involving legal entities, ministries, and professionals. The creation of a cohesive digital infrastructure for employees and employers necessitates common guidelines, resulting in immediate benefits for ministries and professionals in national job markets. To achieve this, the project strives toward a new identification system and verification service for seamless inter-European employee processing. </p>
