Event summary

On the 26th July 2016, a one-hour live Webinar followed by an interactive Q&A on Twitter was conducted to provide a full understanding of how public administrations, service providers, software vendors and European projects can benefit from CEF eDelivery and available grant funding.

The online event "CEF eDelivery – What's In It For You?" provided a comprehensive overview of the CEF eDelivery Service Offering (i.e. the tailor-made support and services available to re-use CEF eDelivery). 

It also provided information on how to successfully apply for grant funding to support the uptake CEF eDelivery (with a dedicated indicative EUR 0.5 million of funding available for proposals in this area).

The deadline for submission is 15 September 2016.

Presentations from experts in the field include an overview of CEF eDelivery and the eDelivery User Journey, the status of Pan-European projects currently deploying eDelivery solutions, and advice on how CEF can help you set up an eDelivery infrastructure. As public administrations and businesses engage in the exchange of documents and data in digital format, the need to secure their transmission becomes of increasing importance. You can achieve this with CEF eDelivery! 

The CEF eDelivery Building Block enables Public Authorities and Businesses to exchange electronic data and documents with each other in a secure, reliable and interoperable way. As CEF eDelivery is domain-independent, it can be used to exchange any type of document and data. Furthermore, CEF eDelivery has strong links to Regulation (EU) 910/2014 on Electronic identification and trust services, commonly known as 'eIDAS'. This regulation introduces Electronic Registered Delivery Services (ERDS) as an essential trust service of the Digital Single Market.

This webinar we will specifically explore the eDelivery User Journey. The User Journey maps the steps that different users will go through to implement an eDelivery solution depending on their specific requirements.  We will also discuss the status of Pan-European projects deploying eDelivery to build up on the steps to implement eDelivery according to your specific needs.

Background

The CEF eDelivery building block helps public administrations and businesses (and indirectly citizens) to participate in eDelivery Messaging Infrastructures. These facilitate organisation-to-organisation messaging by enabling their systems to interact with each other in a secure, reliable and trusted way. The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Digital Programme, is currently promoting the adoption of common standards in the eDelivery Messaging Infrastructures in different policy domains (Business Registers, eJustice, eProcurement, etc.).

CEF eDelivery builds on the work of the Member States on the Large Scale Pilots (such as e-SENS)

and the Regulation (EU) 910/201 on Electronic identification and trust services, commonly known as 'eIDAS'.

CEF eDelivery supports the fundamental principles of the digital age by promoting the alignment between its technical specifications and the eIDAS regulatory framework. eIDAS establishes the principle that an electronic document should not be denied legal effect on the grounds that it is in an electronic form.

CEF eDelivery promotes the use of existing technical specifications and standards rather than trying to define new ones. Organisations adopting these technical specifications are free to select any software that conforms to them. In short, there are three alternative scenarios for Public Authorities and Business interested in deploying a CEF eDelivery Access Point. They can buy, build or reuse one.
