BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT will be running the Digital Literacy for Life Programme. It is a programme that will bring together an alliance of organisations that have a stake in digital literacy in the UK. The programme will have a main group that will build definition/standards for digital literacy and influence government, educationalists and other decision makers that digital literacy is vital to the employability of citizens and for citizens to fully participate in a digital society. The programme will focus on promoting the need for a full role for digital literacy in schools, colleges and private training organisations.

There will be a number of sub-groups sitting beneath the main group who will focus on key areas and sectors. This programme will operate a microsite that will contain resources, research and all details relating to digital literacy. It will aim to be the first point of reference for digital literacy matters and will influence government policy in this subject.
