ALTEN is an international group leader in technology consulting and engineering, with offices all over the world. ALTEN skills in ICT technology are gathered and developed though Centres of Excellence. The Group is active in countries that are experiencing very different employment conditions, ranging from countries with high unemployment rates for young people, such as Spain and Italy, to countries where there is lack of skilled engineers, like Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, etc.

As a consequence, ALTEN International Solutions Division created the “Cantera Project”, an innovative initiative aiming at supporting young graduated people in acquiring high ICT skills in an international environment. Participants to the project will have first a six-month internship in Italy or Spain where they will be trained in ALTEN Solution Centres of Excellence; at the end of the internships, they will transfer to countries that are lacking ICT skills, in order to continue their international career in the Group.

By the end of 2013, 50 internships will be started in Italy and in Spain; internships will focus on innovative technologies (eg: mobile applications development) as well as on different ICT professions which exhibit resource shortage like testing and requirements engineering; during the internship the persons will receive both theoretical and hands-on training and will also perform exams with reference to the most renowned schemes (eg: ISTQB®) that will provide international recognition of the skills achieved.
