6 PhD students have been selected to attend the 11th International Nanotechnology conference on Communication and Cooperation (INC 11) in Japan. They will have the opportunity to experience the big picture of nano-electronics and nanotechnologies and the revolution they bring in smart mobility and robotics as well as discover more about the Japanese national-research-programmes.

‘Excellent’ rating for Presto4U at final EU review

EU-funded project Presto4U has just had its final review. The project had two main goals: to identify useful research results in the digital Audiovisual preservation domain and to raise awareness and improve adoption of these results, by technology and service providers as well as media owners. The core group of 14 PrestoCentre member organisations can be very proud: all objectives and goals were achieved, and even exceeded expectations.

Funded as part of the Global Systems Science (GSS) initiative in FP7, the project EUNOIA investigated a variety of non-conventional sources of geolocated data — such as mobile phone records, GPS tracks, smart card data, data from Internet social networks or credit card transactions, among others — to extract useful information about activity and mobility patterns in urban areas.

e-Mark U Trust Competition Award Ceremony - And the winner is...

The winner and the runners up of the e-Mark U Trust Competition, launched last summer, will be honoured at an official award ceremony hosted by European Commission Vice-President Andrus Ansip (@Ansip_EU). The winner will have his/her logo on the websites of qualified trust service providers and will help make trust grow in the internet and online services.

SEMIC 2015 – 5th Semantic Interoperability Conference

The ISA programme (Interoperability Solutions for European Public Administrations) is organising this conference in cooperation with the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Last year's conference attracted some 200 participants from more than 30 countries. SEMIC 2015 will explore how Enterprise Information Management can help public administrations to reduce costs and improve public services through digital transformation, for example through the application of the principles "digital by default" or introduction of "information once-only". The conference will present good practices that have successfully addressed these issues.
