The Networked and Electronic Media (NEM) Initiative was established as one of the European Technology Platform under the Seventh Framework Programme, aiming at fostering the convergence between consumer electronics, broadcasting and telecoms in order to develop the emerging business sector of networked and electronic media. In order to respond to new needs and requirements of the Horizon 2020 programme, the NEM initiative enlarged its focus towards creative industries and changed its name to New European Media. The European Commission as well as Cities and Regions presented how they are supporting the implementation of Public Procurement of Innovative Solutions (PPI) and Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP). The Digital Economy Ministers and representatives of ministries from Southern Mediterranean countries, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Secretariat, telecoms regulators, development banks and EU institutions have pledged closer cooperation to reap the benefits of the digital economy for Euro-Mediterranean citizens, consumers and businesses. They call for work on a long-term cooperation strategy for eHealth and to expand the deployment of eHealth solutions. Read more
