One of the 60 priority actions included in the European Framework for Action aims at reinforcing EU leadership and capitalising on innovative aspects of cultural heritage policies.

In accordance with these aims, the European Commission launched two conferences in 2019 on the future of heritage called “Global problem solving platforms”.

The first conference took place on the 1 April 2019, at the National Concert Hall in Dublin and focused on social innovation and its relationship with cultural heritage.

Three specific areas were chosen for each of the working groups that took part in the Platform.

These were the following:

  • the revitalisation of rural communities;
  • the crowdsourcing of smart solutions for societal challenges; and
  • Global peace making.

This report outlines the deliberations of each of the groups and brings fresh thinking and ideas from the participants.
